Trees can be afflicted by various pests and diseases that can threaten their health and survival. Being able to identify and manage these threats is crucial for protecting our tree populations.
Callophrys Tree Consultancy have considerable experience in the diagnosis of a range of tree pests, diseases and disorders that affect trees in the urban landscape, including fungi, bacteria invertebrates, viruses and pollution.
Some the most damaging entomological tree pest species in Scotland include the great spruce bark beetle (Dendroctonus micans), the large pine weevil (Hylobius abieits), the oak processionary moth (Thaumetopoea processionea) and the pine tree lappet moth (Dendrolimus pini). In addition, some of the more concerning tree diseases in Scotland are Dothistroma septosporum (needle blight), Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (ash dieback) and Phytophthora ramorum.
